An online referral, also known as an e-referral, is a modern form of the traditional medical referral. It is issued electronically, eliminating the need for a paper document. With this digital innovation, patients can get a referral to a specialist online or for tests without leaving their home. The e-referral system provides convenience, speed and security.
E-referral works on the basis of an electronic medical document management system. During an online consultation, the doctor can issue a referral for tests or to a specialist. The patient receives a unique four-digit e-referral code, which, together with his/her PESEL number, is sufficient to register with any medical facility that supports this system. The online referral is available on the Internet Patient Account (IKP), which further facilitates the management of medical records.
Online doctor referral is not only convenient, but also offers a number of other advantages. Patients can avoid having to leave home, which is particularly important for the elderly or those with limited mobility. In addition, the system guarantees time savings and safety by eliminating queues at clinics and the risk of infection. An e-referral code and PESEL number are sufficient to register quickly and efficiently at the selected medical facility.
E-referral covers a wide range of diagnostic tests and specialist consultations, such as MRI, CT scans, laboratory tests, ultrasound, endoscopy or echocardiography. Online referral allows patients to access these services quickly, without unnecessary paperwork.
Obtaining an online referral is a simple process. During the online consultation, the doctor assesses the patient's condition and, if necessary, issues an e-referral for tests or to a specialist. The issued referral is immediately available in the system and can be checked on IKP or a code can be received by SMS or email.
Making an e-referral is simple. All you need to do is contact the medical facility of your choice, provide the four-digit e-referral code and your PESEL number, and then make an appointment at a convenient time.
We do not make referrals for reimbursable examinations. We do not have a contract with the National Health Service.
