Duomox e-prescription

The drug Duomox - what is it?

Duomox is a beta-lactam antibiotic widely used in the treatment of bacterial infections. The main ingredient in the drug is amoxicillin, which exhibits a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity. Duomox is available by prescription only, ensuring safe use and reducing the risk of antibiotic misuse.

How does the drug Duomox work?

The active substance, amoxicillin, works by blocking the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, leading to their destruction. The drug is effective against many bacterial strains, including streptococci, staphylococci and other Gram-positive bacteria.

For which diseases is Duomox used?

The drug Duomox is used in the treatment of many bacterial infections, such as:

  • acute bacterial sinusitis,
  • acute otitis media,
  • acute streptococcal pharyngitis and tonsillitis,
  • exacerbation of chronic bronchitis,
  • out-of-hospital pneumonia,
  • acute cystitis,
  • asymptomatic bacteriuria in pregnancy,
  • acute pyelonephritis.

Duomox - posology

The dosage of Duomox depends on the patient's age, weight and type of infection. The drug can be prescribed in doses of: 250 mg, 375 mg, 500 mg, 750 mg and 1 g.

Example dosage:

Adults and children over 40 kg body weight:

The drug should be taken as prescribed by the doctor. Failure to follow the dosage may affect the effectiveness of the treatment.

How do I get a prescription for Duomox?

Duomox can be obtained on the basis of an online or in-office medical consultation. In the case of an online consultation, the doctor will take a health history and, if indicated, issue an e-prescription.

Duomox and pregnancy and lactation

The use of Duomox during pregnancy and breastfeeding should always be consulted with a doctor. Amoxicillin may cross the placenta and into breast milk, which may affect the health of the baby. Your doctor will decide whether the benefits outweigh the potential risks.

Duomox - contraindications and precautions

The use of Duomox is not recommended for:

  • hypersensitivity to amoxicillin or other beta-lactam antibiotics,
  • Hepatic impairment caused by previous use of amoxicillin,
  • severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis.

Patients with renal insufficiency may require a dosage adjustment.

Duomox - side effects

Side effects may occur during the use of Duomox, such as:

  • nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea,
  • skin rash and urticaria,
  • fungal infections of the mucous membranes,
  • taste disorders and loss of appetite.

If serious symptoms occur, such as allergic reactions or signs of superinfection, a doctor should be consulted immediately.

How should I take Duomox?

Duomox tablets can be swallowed whole with water or dissolved in a glass of water and drunk immediately. The drug can be taken regardless of meals.

Important application principles:

  • The recommended dose should not be exceeded,
  • If a dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as possible, unless the time for the next dose is approaching,
  • Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

Why is Duomox on prescription?

Antibiotics such as Duomox require medical supervision to avoid inappropriate use. Incorrect dosage can lead to the development of bacterial resistance, making future treatment more difficult.
